It is cold in Holland and everybody is talking about it, while it is actually a normal winter temperature that we are not used to anymore. A few weeks ago I met a friend for coffee. She just went out shopping for some warmer winter clothes to beat the cold. But all she saw were winter collections with short sleeves, thin fabrics and short models. She was right. I remembered the conversation we had about this when I was looking at the spring/summer 2009 collections. Tights at Chanel, full covering at Balenciaga, socks and long coats at Burberry Prorsum, leather at Givenchy and layers at Marc Jacobs. It looks like the climate change causes the seasons becoming more alike. The not so cold winters and not so warm summers are reflecting on the way we (must) dress and that causes designers to bring slightly heavy and layering S/S collections. It is actually been developing for a few seasons now. Fashion and us consumers can adapt pretty easy to these changes, unfortunately we can't say the same for mother nature.
