Be prepared for a shiny and glittering summer. Although our economy looks very sad, the designers seem to look at things at the bright side. The shininess of Donna Karan came in soft and flowing dresses in neutral shades while Marc Jacobs's glow was a beautiful melting pot of metallic patterns. Ralph Lauren has drawn his inspiration from the four corners of the earth and translated them to the urban way of living in a successful way.
With all-in-ones covered in crystals and sculptured dresses with delicate embroidery the ready-to-wear collection of Alexander McQueen came very close to couture. But the absolute winner of glitter is Balenciaga. With a collection that is all about matt and gloss, the futuristic models looked actually soft. "I wanted to see how different textures played, to see how they reflected or absorbed light." says Nicolas Ghesquière about his new and yet again, amazing collection for Balenciaga.
